True change begins with oneself.

True change begins with oneself.

Change is the rule of the world. Our eyes witness this change every day. The birth, development and death of human beings are the reflection of this change. Along with the natural changes like the rising and setting of the sun and the moon, the blooming and wilting of flowers, human beings have also made artificial changes for their own happiness and convenience.

Thanks to scientific discoveries, one can today touch the depths of the ocean as easily as one can soar through the sky. Just as one can easily talk to a person sitting 10 cm away, in the same way one can easily talk to a person sitting ten thousand km away today.

In short, the main objective of human beings behind these changes is to live peacefully in life. However, are humans really quiet today? These changes ushered in an era of mobility and convenience in the world. But it has also led to loss of stability and peace.

Nobel laureate poet T.S. Eliot says, 'Endless invention, endless experiment brings knowledge of motion, but not of stillness.' Clearly, change in externals, practices, environment and dress can only provide momentum, not permanent stability. Kabir cautions those who believe only external change to be everything.

"Bambi kute bavala sarjana marya jai; murkha babi na dam se sarpa sabanakum khai."

Even if you strike a snake's bill with thousands of sticks, it will not do anything to the snake hidden inside. The main objective here was to destroy venomous snakes, but a mere off-the-surface effort was not sufficient to accomplish the objective. If the wages of one of the two friends with equal educational and intellectual qualifications are suddenly increased, what kind of change can bring peace to the other friend?

It is clear that the first change is neither permanent nor self-contained, whether by raising wages or developing a solid inner sense. So you have to change your thinking.

"When we want happiness, convenience or compromise, So we should first change our thoughts and understanding by not starting change in outer dress, appearance, behavior, person or thing."

This is the specialty of great men. They create themselves with the ultimate goal of peace for all. Pramukh Swami Maharaj had wandered all his life with this spirit. On February 19, 1975, Pramukh Swami Maharaj was in Anand, Gujarat. A devotee had a banquet there at midday. Pramukh Swami Maharaj and other saint-devotees were also sitting in the row. Foods were served in a dish. While the prayer was going on, suddenly a gentleman came, 'Swamiji, my house is left.' The manager present there said, 'I took Swamiji to your house.' The gentleman said, 'But I was not at home at that time. So come again. 'That gentleman's stubbornness, time, coincidence and cause were all three ways wrong. Managers began to try to change their stubbornness. There Swamiji moved his food bowl and stood up and said, not him we have to change and understand this. At half past two in the afternoon, Swamiji left his meal and went to that gentleman's house. He changed himself, not the other person, and settled the matter in an instant. In this way, we too can calm the adverse situation by making a meaningful change in our thoughts.
